What is a 4 day work week?
This is the opportunity to gain a full time job and you only work up to 32 hours. You still qualify for all of the full time benefits like paid time off, healthcare, etc..
Some jobs are structured Monday - Friday with reduced hours while others are Monday - Thursday schedule.
Where can I get a 4 day job?
Right here!
I don’t want to get a new job…
That makes a lot of sense and I wonder if there are ways you can negotiate a 4 day work week into your current job. I don’t know about your situation but there are a lot of hiring and raise freezes going on right now so there is room to work with if you are interested in pursuing a 4 day week schedule.
Setting up a quarterly or annual review of your work with your boss can be a great way to track your great performance to be able to then ask for compensation in return. And compensation doesn’t always look like adding something it can also look like reducing your time. I suggest thinking of a way to ask your manager for a 4 day work week.
Reasons you can use:
More work life balance to feel refreshed and productive during work hours
If you have an major stresses/mental health obstacles at this time you can have an open conversation with a medical professional. A 4 day work week is more your style and seeking council about it can empower you to have a conversation with your manager.
More focus time during work hours to optimize time lost in meetings
Retaining your talent by allowing you to balance family responsibilities
These are just ideas and not a one size fits all. It doesn’t hurt to try to negotiate, the worst they can say is no!
